Emergency Planning for Individuals, Families, and Neighborhoods

You can prepare for an emergency or disaster now.  Use this checklist to gather the information and items you may need in case of an emergency.

 

  • Store a  3 days supply of food and water for each person

§         Ready-to-eat canned and packaged foods

§         Cereals

§         Peanut Butter, Crackers, Breads

§         Packaged Juices   

§         Bottled Water

§         Baby Foods and Other Special Needs Foods

§         Pet Foods

 

  • Store an extra supply of prescription medicines

§         Ask your drug store or insurer if necessary

 

  • Store other medical supplies that may be needed

§         Thermometer

§         Medicines for Fever

§         Soap, Alcohol Hand Wash

§         Medicines for Diarrhea or Vomiting

§         Vitamins

§         Testing Supplies

§         Bandages

§         Gloves

 

  • Store other items that may be needed

§         Cleaning Soaps and Supplies

§         Flashlight, Batteries

§         Portable Radio with a Weather Channel if Possibile

§         Manual Can Opener, Knife, Scissors

§         Garbage Bags

§         Tissues, Toilet Paper, Diapers

§         Buckets with Lids 

               

  • Talk with family and neighborhoods about needs in case of an emergency
  • Establish a place to meet in your neighborhood in case of an emergency
  • Practice healthy habits to prevent Illness or Injury
  • Get involved with local groups to prepare for or handle a real emergency
  • Stay aware. Listen to radio. Watch TV. Check websites for special information.
