When to Stay at Home

Dear Parent,

Please read through the following information and save this! Your child’s health is extremely important to us and we need your help in maintaining a healthy environment for all of our children.

Please be protective of your child and to other children by not sending your child to school if he/she exhibits any of the following signs of illness:

Fever: Temperature above 100° F (taken by mouth).
Diarrhea: Any watery stools not contained in under clothes.
Vomiting: Throwing up.
Rash: Covering entire body.

Any child with the above-mentioned symptoms must be kept at home a full 24 hours without symptoms before returning to school.

The following conditions also demand special consideration:

Head Lice: The School Board Policy requires a student to be nit-free before he/she may return to school.
Strep Throat: Students should not return to school until they have been on antibiotic therapy for at least 24 hours and they are fever free (under 100° F).
Communicable Disease: If your child develops chickenpox, mumps, measles, full body rash, strep throat, or “pink eye”, your child will be excluded from school until we have a note from a health care provider stating your child is not contagious and may return to school.

Recognize the signs of oncoming illness and use your best judgment in sending your child to school. Extreme fatigue, persistent cough, and exceptional crankiness can be indicators that your child needs rest at home.

Current Phone Numbers
Should your child become ill or should an accident occur at school, you will be notified immediately. If you cannot be reached, someone on your emergency list will be called. Please be sure that all phone numbers are current.

Thank you for your cooperation,
