General Sanitation

The General Sanitation program is responsible for enforcing the health and sanitation codes in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

 Among these are:

  • Improper storage and disposal of garbage and trash
  • Enforcing rodent and pest control regulations
  • Interior and exterior plumbing problems involving human contact with sewage
The program also deals with:
  • Excessive vegetation
  • Littered vacant lots
  • Lead-based paint surveys
  • Illegal dumping
  • Trailer court and campground inspections
The program is complaint-driven. Complaints are assigned to an inspector who will conduct an investigation within 24 hours of receiving the complaint.
