providing EnviroFlash air quality forecasts
For individuals sensitive to air quality, such as asthmatics, even a little air pollution can be a big deal. EPA has partnered with Tennessee’s Department of Environment and Conservation and the Metro Public Health Department to provide a way for individuals in the Middle Tennessee area to receive air quality forecasts by email or text messages on cell phones or pagers. These air quality forecast emails are issued at 3 p.m. for the next two days, or three or more days for weekends and holidays. The forecasts are provided for two pollutants: ozone, which is included from late spring through early fall, and fine particulate matter, which is year-round. The program allows you to customize your email subscription depending on the content of the forecast and how you want to receive the emails. To sign up for the forecast emails, you can go to the Clean Air Partnership of Middle TN website – www.cleanairpartnership.info. Middle TN forecast information, as well as the monitored air quality index and pollen counts for Davidson County, are also available on the Metro Public Health Department’s Air Quality pages, or by calling the Pollution Control Division’s Air Quality Information Line at (615) 340-0488.
